Resumo

The current work analyzes the recent industrial evolution in the Northern frontier regions of Mexico. To that effect, it proposes and works with the concept of local trajectories of industrial knowledge. The basic idea behind the afore-mentioned concept consists of the definition of the productive functions which have been surging in corporations through the course of time, and which are representative of the advances of local industrial knowledge. Through this method, the evolution of corporations and its products is determined in a bidimensional plane: a) generational change and b) structural heterogeneity. It is emphasized that the possibility of the trajectories is dependent on its coherent articulation in a governmental economic regime. Finally, the existence of successful trajectories allows for the emergence and consolidation of functional-territorial industrialization.
