Abstract

The new form of urbanization characterized by the construction of large scale housing developments on the outskirts of cities has caused an impact on local governments, whose reduced management capacity, limited skills and limited budget is expressed in the inability to provide basic services to population. A look at six municipalities of the Metropolitan Area of Mexico City, letÍ€™s examine how the centralization exacerbates this phenomenon.
